World’s First Energy Positive Building

We have all been talking about reducing our energy needs though better design and construction techniques.  After all, who wouldn’t want to save on utility bills while contributing to the overall well being of the environment?  So, when I saw this article describing the first energy positive office building in the world…I had to share it with you.

What does energy positive mean?  Basically, the building produces more energy than it uses.  This is accomplished by having a huge array of solar panels on the roof coupled with thoughtful design and material choices.  The most intriguing thing to me is the cost…right in-line with those of a traditional office structure that abuses energy.

There is no reason why we can’t apply these same types of techniques to building our homes.  How great would it be to eliminate all of our utility bills and not cost a dime more to build?  For more cool ways to green your next owner-built home building project go to our video at The Green Home.
